News about our team!
Pini Gerson accompanied by team’s manager, Stauros Elliniadis will travel to France (Strasburg) in order to watch in personal the “red” players of the National Greek team, and have a discussion with them about the Eurobasket and the upcoming season with Olympiakos.
Coach Gerson will ateend the friendly games against Slovenia, France and Serbia and then he will be in Athens for the Akropolis Tournament at the 20th of August.
Olympiakos is happy to see four players among Giannakis’s selections as Vassileiadis, Maurokefalidis, Bourousis and Vassilopoulos are “fighting” for a place to the roster that will fly to Spain for the Eurobasket at the beginning of September.

It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.
Just to find out who his players are.. He has no idea of them anyway![]()

He will ask Elliniadis:
<Looking on Diamantidis> Is he Kwstas Vasiliadis ?
No coach!!
< Looking on Papaloukas > Is he Loukas Mavorkefalidis ?
No coach!!!
Well he must be the first coach that he don't know the players of his team.![]()

Sarounas Jasikevicous is in Greece for the Acropolis Tournament along with the Lithuanian national team and he made it clear that for now his only goal is to find out what will happen with the NBA.
“I haven’t spoken to anybody from Olympiakos. Maybe my manager had a discussion with the club, but not me. I spoke with Pini Gerson and that’s all. Right now, I want to see what will happen with the NBA. If the things don’t work out, then we will see about Europe. You should write that this is not the time for that kind of things. Stop writing all these crazy scenarios!”

Is this thread something you are looking at developing?
I would be quite happy to help out with any english language news required.
Cheers,
Marcus (an English Olympiakos fan (a very rare thing))

Sacking Ivic was a mistake as was sacking Sirtakis halfway through the season. Unfortunately I am used to such things happening in my team by now.
Never mind, the optimist in me says we may have 'o Magos' or the raging bull back in the team as Technical Director. The realist says we got Louvaris foir the next five years....

Marcus, welcome. I can't help thinking that yours is a self-inflicted wound!
heh, it's like we hit the self destruct button every year without fail. Stuff it, put Petros in as head coach, Louvaris in as Technical Director and Alefantos in as our PR spokesman.
Thats what Kokkalis wants deep down...
Welcome, dear Marcus. Can you tell us the story of how it came to be that you became an Olympiakos fan? As you said, you are a rare case indeed, and I am dying to know
As for the team, we are hitting a series of new lows after a series of great highs. It's very disappointing, but we're trying to cope with the insanity of it all with a sense of humour (black humour, of course, or gallows humour as it's also known).
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.

I remember once in Cardiff, I think it was a few days after 3-0 in Rizoupoli.....we were sitting in a nice central downtown pub with some friends having an after job drink......as I was staring outside the people passing by.....I notice three lads (bet my head, all of them were British) walking down the road wearing football team shirts......one had Liverpool's, one had Newcastle's......and the third one had red and white stripes. For a fraction of a second I thought that it was Southampton's jersey......but as the lads were coming closer it was clear it wasn''t Southampton's.....second thought was, that the jersey was PSV Eindhoven's.......but again PSV has "Philips" on the shirt, not "Siemens"!!.......As the man was just outside the pub's window I realised he was wearing Olympiacos shirt!!!.......and as passed by, at the back.......Karembeu's name and number!!!
Markus......have you ever been to Cardiff!?![]()

No, not me unfortunately. I am rare but not unique. I know of at least another 5 english guys (all from around london) who are Olympiakos fans. I think I might know who you saw in Cardiff as there are a couple of fans from there in the Olympiakos Londonclub.
As for me, I got into Olympiakos whilst trying (and failing) to learn Greek some 10-11 years ago. At the time, the olympiakos website was one of the only ones with news in English and Greek and I got to know the club through that. I keep up to date by posting news on a site run for Greek-Americans and Greek-Australians who mainly all write in English.
I have not been to a huge amount of matches but I try to go to as many as I can. I try to make about 5 or 6 matches each year and obviously watch the rest of them online through streaming or online greek tv.
Hope that makes some sort of sense.
OK, fair enough. You are better than me then.......I hardly make it to 1 match per 5 years!!
I am regular TV addict, though. I can't recall the last match I missed!

well, I am not better than anyone. Here we are all brothers and no matter if anyone attends 30 matches a year or no matches, we are equal. All we have is our love for Olympiakos.
If you tell me what you need for English, I will be very happy to provide.
